Our Mission

The mission of the Coalition shall be to provide coordinated leadership to advocate for equal access to quality health care for Hispanics/Latinos residing in South Carolina.  Priorities for action will be in keeping with the guidelines set forth by the National Health Care Standards Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS).

Core objectives


The core objectives of the Coalition shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • To improve communications among providers, agencies, and the Hispanic/Latino community.
  • To reduce organizational, systemic, and cultural barriers to health care.
  • To promote “best practices” and cultural competency by agencies and organizations across South Carolina.
  • To foster collaborative efforts and partnerships around specific issues of concern to the Hispanic/Latino population in South Carolina.
  • To serve as a liaison and advisor to public and private agencies and organizations.

Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands invites you to a FREE training about Ensuring Meaningful Access to Services for Latinos/as on June 3, 2011 from 8:30 – 4:00pm in the Bill Rogers Community Connections Center in Columbia. The presenters are Ambar Hanson and Patti Tototzintle, Latina advocacy experts from Casa de Esperanza in St. Paul, MN. Register at stsm.org
